Napier's Denise Bavidge clinched New Zealand's only medal - a bronze - as the team finished third at the Oceania Petanque championships in Tahiti. New Zealand finished behind the hosts and New Caledonia. A New Zealand contingent also finished 25th from 42 countries at the world championships in Faro, Portugal. Belgium won the world title from Tunisia and France.

Jason Babbidge of Windham, ME. scored 64 10’s and 36 9’s as part of his total score of 1117, to finish 6th in the

National Archery Association’s Indoor Tournament.
